Cold rolled stainless steel is produced by passing hot rolled stainless steel through a series of rollers at room temperature. This cold rolling process imparts additional strength and hardness to the steel.
Stainless steel coils refer to the steel being delivered in the form of large continuous coils rather than individual sheets or plates.
Common stainless steel grades used for cold rolled coils include 304, 316, 409, and 430. The 300-series grades like 304 and 316 are the most popular for their corrosion resistance.
Cold rolled stainless coils typically have tighter dimensional tolerances, smoother surface finishes, and higher strength compared to hot rolled stainless steel.
Applications for cold rolled stainless steel coils include kitchen appliances, sinks, food service equipment, automotive trim, building facades, and various industrial/manufacturing parts.
